How do you change your password?

I've been through the "reset password" rigmarole *THREE* times now. The sequence is:

1. request a reset

2. receive the reset email

3. click the link

4. receive the new password in email

5. try the password, but it does not work.

So I repeat the titular question:

How do you change your password?

Why don't you just contact the forum administrator?

scasey 04-10-2019 08:08 PM

Edit Profile. On the left side of the page click Edit Email and password.
Enter your current password, the enter and confirm a new password.

I don’t find anything here that works as you describe re: requesting a reset, etc.
Are you talking about changing your password somewhere else?

That's what I was wondering - a bit cryptic.

Change password for this forum? Or what site?

Please provide details.

brkorb 04-19-2019 03:25 PM

Well, yes, it is for this site. I'm able to get in only because there are cookies that are still valid. If they get purged, then I'll have to sign up again. Meanwhile, I can't use my tablet without knowing the password. But it really is a website issue. The admins can hopefully explain why going through the rigmarole winds up with an "invalid password" response.

scasey 04-19-2019 03:33 PM

Again, see #3. Or use the contact form to contact the administrator, as suggested in #2.

I've confirmed the password reset works as expected. If you're copy/pasting the password, have you ensured an extra space isn't being appended to the end? Have any other members been impacted by this issue?

Two months ago when I opened Firefox, a small box appeared, asking me to type my "Master Password" although this was the first instance that I remember of a password in this regard, I complied and a new normal was created. Since then I must type my master password each time I open Firefox and several times while I continue its use in a setting. When I change the topic or close a subject and on occasions, after a number of minutes time has passed.
It would be wonderful if I could go back to as it was before, No Password or at least required only once.
I really appreciate this format which will help me greatly, I suffer from mild dementia, in my mind, the facts are still there but the filing system is slow and faulty. Let you know what you have to look forward to experiencing if you are lucky enough to survive. Finding my online name in a rapidly changing list has been difficult.

Changing the LQ password has nothing to do with your web browsers master password!

For the latter, please check your Firefox' Preferences => Privacy & Security => Logins and Passwords => Change Master Password
