You can't change your username, sorry.

Aquarius_Girl 05-08-2012 03:15 AM

Send a mail to root, he might do it for you.

I'd suggest not bothering Jeremy TBH. Just create a new account if you really feel you need to.

Creating multiple accounts just for the user name change
won't be unhealthy for the site in any way? Just asking.

It's a big site, with thousands and thousands of accounts.

Aquarius_Girl 05-08-2012 03:32 AM

So, it'll be like a drop in the ocean!

I thought that it was possible? Unless I'm mistaken, I've seen one username changed here. I probably wouldnt bother asking Jeremy for the sake of 112 posts though.

IMO creating a new account for a name change is better than mods/admins changing username for them.

Its not that bad if a name change happens once, but in my experience as allowing one name change can create a whole bunch of 'I'm sick of this name, I want to change it to 'XXXX' posts. Which just creates pointless work for the mods/admins. If its public policy that username changes are possible, its not uncommon for a percentage of users to be constantly asking to have a name change.

It also can make threads a mess....if you reply to 'XXXX' (without quotes) and the name gets changed to 'YYYY' it makes threads less readable and more confusing.

I dont have a problem with people asking to have a the username changed, I just feel that if it is done it should be hidden and not written, public policy that a username changes are possible.

This one is quite old though, but I do remember him
saying the same thing in another thread too [can't
dig out that thread now].

We don't allow automatic username changes as it would be extremely confusing to the community if all members could arbitrarily change their username an unlimited number of times. For the time being, if you'd like your username changed please contact me directly with the reason and a couple username choices.
