Forums on LQ require official recognition and support from the distro in question. If the CentOS project managers or developers wish to contact jeremy I'm sure they would be most welcome.
I've posted to the Centos developers (centos_org/modules/contactteam) asking them to contact linuxquestions_org in regards to getting a Centos forum started. Thank you.

That's how it used to be, but it was changed at Greg's request. If members think it's a problem I can certainly try to touch base with them again. I'd also consider having a "RHEL Rebuild" type forum, if we could get multiple participants in there.

As I mentioned, that's how Greg asked that it be setup when he agreed to participate. Unless I hear differently from him, I'm not going to change the current setup (and FWIW, if I do hear differently from him, I'd be happy to change it).
Jeremy,
I got on the IRC and was told that they have their own forums. That's the thing, they're "just" forums. I think it would behoove Centos to at least maintain a presence here. I prefer linuxquestions forums, the feature set gives your site a personal touch, which is extremely rare. I see the Centos developers' priorities as dealing with OS development, not maintaining _and_ continuing to innovate a cutting-edge, first class forum site. I don't expect Centos to give up their forums, but at the same time I don't see why they would not want to take advantage of all that linuxguestions has to offer.
I want both CentOS and Linuxquestions to be in a win-win situation. May I try to contact him? I don't mind pursuing this.

Greg is the founder of the project (http://caosity.org/about/maintainers?lang=en) and the person who I worked with originally to get the forum setup here at LQ( http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...276#post723276 ). I'm not sure there is currently enough demand for a dedicated CentOS forum, which is why I thought the current forum plus a RHEL-rebuild forum might make sense. I'm open to discussion on the topic though.
Hello and thank you Daniel for bringing this thread to my attention.
I can give the gory details on the history if people wish, but in a nutshell Centos is unfortunatly no longer part of the cAos Foundation. They have split off and now maintain the system completly on their own:
Back when Jeremy and I talked about setting up the cAos Foundation (which at that time included Centos) forums the Centos online presence was basically non-exsistant and I figured that the cAos forums would handle the needs of both Centos and cAos Linux. Shortly there after Donavan took over maintaince of the Centos site and both him and Lance agreed to host their own forums.
In a nutshell, while I can't speak for Centos or represent them for LQ, I would like to request that the cAos Forums stay specific for cAos Linux (even though we don't get many hits (which will hopefully change one day)).
Please feel free to contact me or post to the cAos forum if there are any additional thoughts or comments. They are much appreciated.
