Hi All & how do you know when the mods have aceepted or rejected a new thread?

thanks for all the resource & info provided on this forum!

i posted a new thread yesterday in the Linux - Software forum, after writing it and submitting it came to "waiting for moderator approval" im just wandering how long the mod approval process takes, and if i will be notified when it is approved or rejected for some reason or not?

answers to the questions raised in this thread are very important. I am new here , just posted 2 threads so far, one being the intro thread as required. What I found is the same this OP. My experiences:
1. very difficult to locate my own thread [if at all it is accepted and appears finally]. A simple link such as 'view your own threads' would have been great. But there is one link 'subscribed threads' which was showing my threads - but the terminology is not very friendly. Just add one more link like 'view your own threads' That would help new ppl like me a lot.

2. my threads took a very loooong time to be approved. not sure why it has to be like that

Hello and welcome to the forum

My first post took up to a day or two, if I remember correctly. However, that may vary depending on the workload of the moderator and when he or she is available to serve on the forum. You probably won't be notified, you will just see your thread at the forum you posted it in when it is approved.

Once your thread is approved, you should be sunscribed to it. You can click on the "subscribed threads" link on the right. It is found in the my LQ section.

Ok guys,.. so i cant see my thread coming up in the Linux - Software Forum, its been approx two days, i can only assume that it has been lost in a backend somewhere and maby the Mods havn't even seen it? could i have the collective good opinion here to re-post/submit the thread?

I would think so.

I can't speak for the mods, but LQ mods always try to be fair and helpful, especially to new members, so I would think that either your post has disappeared down some cyber black hole, or it was so far out of the limits of acceptability that they have turned it over to interpol for followp! Let's assume the first and if anyone complains just refer them here...

I'd suggest that you open a new thread to get good exposure for your question, as opposed to adding it to this thread.

Thanks astrogeek - yes lets hope that it was the former rather than the latter.. the topic of the post was trouble installing Gaussian on Rocks6.2, i dont think (from what ive read and researched) that this was a forum No No.. as the question/topic has been addressed on this forum at earlier dates than today. Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the feedback. The vast majority of posts by new members don't require approval. For the small number that do, the average approval time is a couple hours (although depending on coverage it might be slightly longer at times). It's an area we'll work to improve on moving forward.

That link exists and is in the main nav on every page with the text "My Threads".

3BABY I do now see your post, one thing you can do is left click on the hyperlink that is your username and it brings down a menu which allows you to find posts made by you. This is how I found your posts, here and in the Linux - Software Forum.

Note that it appears also to be a very complex and specific question. Someone with similar direct experience will have to address that. It is showing in the forums, and hopefully someone who has worked with that software will offer some suggestions.
