ChuangTzu, I was pretty clear in post #7 that responses of this nature aren't acceptable at LQ and will not be tolerated. You've been a member long enough to know better.

Apologies...no ill will intended. Was merely using an old Zen/Taoist proverb to illustrate that if someone is trolling, bragging etc... then don't entertain it, in other words it takes two to Tango etc.... Perhaps, lost in translation or poorly expressed on my part.

@Jeremy,

If being proud to be apart of this site and being proud of the fact that YOU have given not only myself, but all of the others the regularly devote their time to trying to help others, makes me a "troll", a "narcissist", "bragging" then so be it! I guess I'm a "troll" or whatever other label the very, very few members here want to put on someone, just for them (me) expressing their gratitude for this site existing.

I guess you have a lot of "narcissists" here, I'll also point out the FACT that NO "narcissist" in the world would be trying to help anyone here (or anywhere else) !

So maybe I should just think more of myself, if that's how people that are proud to have helped are going to be described. I'm sorry for expressing the fact that I'm (or more to the point WAS) proud and happy to be able to have helped here. Very sorry.

I'll say just one more thing, ANYONE who knows me in the 'real' world, would tell you that I'm the very last person that thinks a lot about myself. But I guess that's what I get for even bothering.

NOTE: I'm saying this TO Jeremy and it's not meant to be directed at ANYONE else nor is it meant to be just a rant either.

I'm sorry to Jeremy for even bothering with this place.

To all the regulars; that come here day in day out to help as many as you can, you ALL have my full respect and I hope you get whatever you want in life! AND you all deserve as much credit as myself or anyone else - maybe even more credit than myself. (and in at least some cases, absolutely more credit than what could ever be applied to myself - thanks for YOUR hard work here)

This is the last reply I'll be making to this thread and maybe any others. I'm sorry Jeremy but I don't believe being labelled a "troll", a "narcissist", etc is in any ways fair or just. I don't have any ill will or hard feelings against yourself or any of the regulars here, that devote their time day in, day out here, trying to help wherever they can.

So maybe you will see me post at this forum again, maybe you won't.

@Mill J,

Well said and I totally agree with you. Thank you for your comments.

Over and out.

this is the second time you, jeremy, posted in this thread.

but i see no flaming happening here.

care to elaborate?

it's not like this thread had any technical (directly computer or linux related) purpose from the start, so surely you can't be refering to the off-topic clause?

ondoho, I'm not sure why you'd think a thread has to be technical in nature for posts to be off-topic.

jsbjsb001, I don't think you were "labeled" a troll, or anything else in this thread. I hope you decide to continue participating here at LQ, but that decision is up to you.

first it was about flaming, now about off-topic posting.
i still don't understand what nature you are refering to exactly.
again, i see no flaming happening here. maybe you could point out which bits made you respond?
since you are the site owner afaik, it is important for me to understand fully what's going on here.
i like my posting privileges and wouldn't want to see them removed for reasons i don't even understand.
