Getting Started - Volumes of Information

LQ provides a magnificent source of information on topics that are either insufficiently documented or not documented elsewhere.

This volume of information can by overwhelming, especially to newbies.

I have looked, but cannot find a mechanism of partitioning the information by distribution and version other than by keyword search on each query.

Would it be possible to set a profile for your distribution and version and only return relevant results unless overridden?

Just thought it might streamline searches and make LQ even more useful...

Under the search there is a small link for advanced search. What your searching for maybe there. I think the main reason for why things are not catogrized into distribution is that many issues span distros. The only real diffrence between distributions is some configuration files startup scripts and other trivial things. For the most part tho most of what linux is is GNU software. Hell even BSD can benefit alot from LQ
