Gamers forum?

If there isn't one already that I haven't found, would it be possible to create a forum specifically for Linux gamers? I think there's a good opportunity for community members to trade advice on finding native Linux games as well as advice on getting games to run in WINE.

Personally, I'm curious if anybody's ever tried to create a Linux cluster on older hardware in order to run games that usually require more powerful hardware. Like, if I have four older PCs with only 512 MB of RAM each, could I cluster them together to get better performance out of World of Warcraft, thus avoiding the Lagwind phenomenon whenever I visit Stormwind on a long weekend? ;-)

You mean like our Linux - Games forum that already exists? Dedicated to nothing but Games in Linux.

damn tricky you beat me to it I'm trying for my 'Senior member' status here. how many posts till I can be a guru like you.

royston: most software has to be written for a cluster in order to see performance gains so probably not. but you'd be able to do more stuff while playing. I've built 2 clusters and they were great but I never had identical hardware to use for the nodes. If you have 4 similar computers you should build a cluster but expect to see more of a 'high availability system' then a 'high performance system' unless you are running something that was written to take advantage of your set up.

I looked and looked and looked, and finally saw it.

I didn't notice it hiding there as a sub-forum under Linux - Software.

It's like 5000 or so for the guru status but trust me, I'm no guru, I just pick it over the other choice of LQ Addict.

Yes, when you reach 5k posts, you can choose between LQ Addict or Guru.
