Folding@Home Team
Hi Guys,
I've just found out about the Linuxquestions.org Folding@Home team (Team ID 12776) but there is only 5 or 6 users contributing. I would like to see a News item in some of the forums telling members about the Folding@Home project and our team. I also think that all new users should be told about Folding@Home when they register.
Just my opinion
Jon
EDIT: The team number is 12776 NOT 12766

Or maybe in the community bulliten some time to raise awareness. Also you could add something to your signature that tells people to join the team.

Cool, I didn't know about this team either. I never had a team before, so my WUs from now on will be for this team.

We used to have a page with our Seti and dnet teams, but I think I removed it a while back. Let me get the info together and I will create a new page. Thanks.

BIG Mistake
As I mentioned in my edited post above the team ID is 12776 not 12766, big mistake .
And yes, my sig was wrong too!
Anyway, thanks for all your replies and I would also like to see a new page about the team and have it included in maybe a community bulletin or news item.
Thank you to everyone who has added it to their sig (I heard about the team through Darin3200's sig ). I hope more users will soon start to contribute.
Thanks Again
Jon

Hi again,
I'm just posting again to say how amazed I am at the amount of users now contributing, since I first started this thread 2 weeks ago the number of work units has doubled from 14 to 28 with 3 new users. The user wapcaplet99 alone has done 12 WUs!
Thank You
Jon

I have just one machine going now.. its a bit on the slow side as its only a p233mhz but it should get there. I did have another machine going and it finished.. but me being a dumbarse accidently put in the wrong team number.. so it got credited under another team..
Anyways.. my little workhorse will get there soon, it got hit with a big task and its a pretty busy little server....
Cheers.

just wanted to bring this back to the public attention...not that too many people read in this forum, but....it's a very worthy cause, and i know that LQ has quite a following. any ideas how we can get more people involved? we currently only have 14 people on our team. i know that there are a lot of very bored servers sitting around chewing their cud.

About a year or so ago I started a very small campaign (for lack of a better term) that came to be called "Benefits of Folding" which serves to promote the project and get people started. It's written for another team (Team MacAddict4Life- team 18) but in the spirit of open-source all versions of it- forum thread, web page, and promotional flyer ( high-quality layered PDF available for editing) are freely distributable and modifiable. Change whatever you want to make it suit your team of choice, but I would appreciate it if a link/URL to my website is given somewhere.

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...w.php?pg=teams has a list of the teams we currently have. I will send a note in one of the upcoming community bulletins so that people know about them. If there are any other teams you think should be started, let me know.

Interesting project that could bring useful results. I'm downloading the necessary modules right now and in a few moments, I should be contributing to the team.
