I don't know which version of Firefox you are using; I'm using 0.7 on a default Windows install at the moment, and it works fine.

There are two possibilities that occur: you may have an old, buggy version of Firefox (the new 1.0 version is considered to be stable), or you may have some problem with your proxy server or cache configuration.

Another, less likely, option is that you may have network issues; you might try reducing the MTU of network path (you'll need to google for this one; Microsoft does not make doing this easy).

An FYI for those with a problem like this (Can you say win98 on ADSL???), you can download a little GUI utility from www.broadbandreports.com (in the "tools+tests" section) called DrTCP. It can help you modify the mss (or MTU in Winspeak), RWIN, TTL, etc. I had this problem when I had dialup before my linux days and fould this handy tool. Thought I'd pass the info on, as its kinda sparse out there.
