"Embarrassed" smiley...

Don't know whether it's just me, but the "embarrassed" smiley (:o) looks more like it's yawning. For a site like this, I think it's essential to have a smiley that properly expresses embarrassment. I certainly feel the need one after doing things like typing a command the wrong way round, so I decided to design one: 25x25 pixel PNG.

What do y'all think? Should it be a little smaller? Or do you like the existing one better?

Rob :)

colucix 04-11-2009 10:59 AM

You're right. It does not express embarrassment. Your smile is slightly different from the style of the other lq smilies, however. What about this, instead?

Robhogg 04-11-2009 11:02 AM

Yep, that one works, as well.

brianL 04-11-2009 12:28 PM

Agreed, those two are better than the present one. I need those after giving bad advice that screwed up somebody's Slackware installation in this thread:

The license for the smilie linked by colucix would allow its use here at LQ. If a sufficient number of members would like to see it added as a new smilie, I'd be happy to do so. Thanks for the feedback.

Vote to add it!

XavierP 04-15-2009 11:26 AM

+1 from me too. It's a fairly standard icon elsewhere.

weibullguy 04-15-2009 12:42 PM

I vote for Robhogg's (assuming he plans to license it appropriately) because it expresses embarassment and, just as importantly, comes from an LQ member.

jiml8 04-15-2009 12:52 PM

I'll toss my vote in too.

PTrenholme 04-15-2009 12:55 PM

+1 for colucix's linked-to one.

Jeremy, how about a pole? Show the options and ask the membership's opinion.

Will you be dancing round this one or hiring him to build a wall? :)

Mmm, I was thinking of posting something like that. :)

DragonSlayer48DX 04-15-2009 08:11 PM

I'll also add my vote for colucix's smilie.

See, I need better "embarrassed" smiley. :o

<edit>
Thanks, Jeremy. Now I can express myself better.

As in: Oops! I forgot the article after "need," above!
