Question deleted threads

I posted with a question about remote desktop in the networking forum this morning, about four or five hours ago and now it seems to have gone, along with a thread I linked it to.
I do realise I may have made a dumb n00b sort of statement or two and should have looked to the help files first, but there is no PM or any other indication and I have searched and threads are just not there....
What gives? Or am I missing something?

PS I noticed thread count after my last post was 50 and now it is 47, so they definitely went somewhere and, presumably, so did one more by my reckoning...

At the risk of appearing impatient.... I'm at work now and would really like to put into practice the possible resolution, or maybe even chance my arm on upgrading this box to Lucid. I can neither find the help file nor benefit from any opinions or experiences which might have been posted or be posted about likely timing/result... If someone can let me know it would be good - even if you are not a mod you may know if threads can be removed for being too n00bish because I thought not?

Hi,

I'm only a 'recent' user since little over a year but I've never seen posts or threads removed for being 'n00bish'. Try contacting a mod directly or Jeremy to find out.

Kind regards,

Eric

Threads are never deleted here unless they violate the rules. You made your last post in 2005 and you are back after 5 years !!

Anyway if you are getting too impatient you may drop a mail to a very active mod named XavierP. Click on the "Contact info" tab there and send him a mail !

Instead of waiting for some senior person to search your thread, how about re-creating a new thread on the same topic ? Later on you can have the 2 threads merged.

I can't see the thread in Networking either. At the bottom of every forum list, there is a list of mods for that particular forum. The mods who look after networking are MasterC, david_ross, acid_kewpie, jschiwal so drop a line to one of them if there is an issue with that forum (or go directly to Jeremy).

If you do post a thread and it disappears, there are 2 basic reasons - the first is that it may have fallen afoul of Akismet and be waiting to be released by a mod, the second is that there may have been a problem with the post and it didn't get posted. No thread will be deleted because it's too "n00bish".

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG sory sorry sorry...

I have accounts on a number of forums and in my sleep deprived state I confused this with justlinux (ahem).... well... for my sins I shall try and post more regularly than twice a decade and, just maybe, I can add to the community by way of thanks.

Deeply embarassed for my confusion with paranoid overtones - no offence or trouble was intended

FWIW, a short time after registration (and successfully having posted) a members' posts are no longer ran through the spam filter, so the above only applies to new members.
