Regardless of the theoretical pros/cons of such a name change, the practical effect of naming any forum "Debian/Devuan" will be that it will be flooded with trolling flamewar posts about how bad/evil Debian is, and that Debian is going to disappear from the face the Earth and be forgotten in the dustbin of history and good riddance to that evil bad evil systemd evil thing froth froth froth!

No, but seriously, I do not see any advantage to adding "Devuan" or any other Debian derivative to the name of the Debian forum. The Debian forum should be for support of Debian specific issues. I suppose it's okay if some reasonable fraction of support posts are for Debian derivatives, but if it gets to be a large fraction then maybe it should be split off somewhere else.

So, for example, Ubuntu took a big departure from Debian in the way it did "su" vs "sudo", and as such it would have been a user's nightmare to try and sift through a combined Debian/Ubuntu support forum to try and figure out what to do. Because of this difference, it was a practical necessity to split off Ubuntu support from a Debian support forum.

Is systemd a big difference on that level? Well, for many things it makes little difference. It's not as universally pervasive as Ubuntu sudo crap. But for the things where it makes a difference? It sure makes a difference!

OTOH, how many support questions do we get that relate to systemd? Honestly, for the most part systemd just works. But there is definitely a systemd way of restarting services, and troubleshooting event logs... so, it'd be better to just have Debian be Debian.

I think you may have jumped to conclusions. I was referring to the kernel builds - and that may no longer be the case so far as I know. Debian's kernels were very "general purpose" oriented and had a lower tick rate. Slackware's on the other hand had the highest (1000Hz) tick rate and were built as preemptive kernels. This does not exclude either from being desktops or servers, it just might partially explain why Debian was less responsive...

That's generally how it goes.
