Talking "Click Here to Find Similar Threads" Greatest Feature Ever

I am new to LQ (obviously, given this is my first post), but I would like to add some feedback right away and say the Similar Threads button is simply ingenious. And convenient.

Case 'n Point? Was trying to find good linux irc chans and I was about to start a thread on the matter when I saw that button, clicked it, and promptly found my question already answered

Now I do try to be a good netizen and search before I post, so I am curious why a search for the same topic yielded no relevant threads? Different algo for the button then the search?

Thanks for the feedback. What was the exact search terms you used? The "Click Here to Find Similar Threads" does not use a different algorithm than the regular search.
