Question Change subject of repeat posts?

First let me start by saying thanks to the moderators for being so cool. You stand above many of the sites I have visited over the years.

I just had an idea as I was cruising the Linux-General forum. I see alot of repeat posts these days (cross posting etc) and the mods do a pretty good job catching them, but they still draw the eye and occasionally get a click (well, it could be a cool fight between some idiot and AK ). How about changing the subject of the repeat posts to XPOST or REPEAT or something like that, so they can be identified and ignored by the rest of us click happy fools.

Just a thought...

The only problem in setting up something like this would be resources as setting up a search and replace would be sort of intensive, especially if it ran every hour or whatever. And setting up something like this wouldn't be very effective if only setup to run once per day as the mods and members would catch these before a script would in that case.

Plus you have to consider those who double post might not always use the exact same title and question in their post.

Good idea but I think will have to stick to the caveman way of doing things for now..

Actually I was just thinking that when a Mod finds a duplicate the caveman way they could append the subject. I wasn't thinking of an automated process, just when the mod puts their post in that spanks the user for crossposting they could do it then. Just a thought.
