I can confirm the error. Opera 9.22, Flash 9.0.48.

No problem in Firefox 1.07

Does the edit applet use Flash? If so, in my Opera Flash stopped working suddenly 3-4 weeks ago without any obvious reason, no system upgrades or installing new programs on this machine.

Opera and Flash has been an unhappy marriage for the past 2 years anyway. Opera developers blame Flash, but only Opera is suffering from this problem while Mozilla is not?

So does the edit applet use Flash?

AFAIK, newer flash plugin doesn't support Opera anymore. And built-in editor surely doesn't look like it uses flash.

It does not use flash in any way.

Thought it was using Flash because of the animated circles cursor: http://pdis.rnw.nl/~hansl/links/zp6

I just tried it on my laptop running Opera 9.51. Editing just works like it should. I guess it is really a problem on my side.

The animated circle is simply a gif.

When I right-click the 'edit' button and select "open in a new tab", I can edit the post just fine. That is Opera 9.22, the one which gives the editing problem.

We've been able to confirm that upgrading Opera to 9.52 consistently fixes the issue, which points to this being a browser bug. While it's possible we'll find a simple work-around, at this point I would recommend you upgrade your browser.
