bookmarking posts (not the whole thread)

hi
i noticed that we can bookmark threads (very useful) but quite often i come across a really good post (either the quality or the content) on a thread that's not of interest to me or is too repetitive about things. would be good so u can always reference the post and not have to wonder why u bookmarked the whole thread. and if it is quite a way from being implemented, would be good to be able to title and/or categorize them.

yes, i know this is a lot like 'starring' on gmail...

ps: new forum look and usability rocks.

You see that #1 up there in your post's box? Do a right click, select bookmark, and thats that.

Note: Or in the case of my post you'll notice a #2... I mean, considering what you said i think you'll find my post quite useful.

Thanks mebrelith, that is seriously useful. You can also use this feature to point out specific posts when you answer to a thread with a link to another thread.

there's "bookmark this link" but that'd be a local bookmark, not part of what's in "my LQ".

and i mis-wrote something. there isn't any thread bookmarking. (subscribing yes, not bookmarking).

so i guess that's a request for both :P

All set - although I may move it up to "Thread Tools" at some point.

alright. there it is. (except i need to re-login for bookmarks.lq.com even though the cookie has domain as .lq.com. bookmarks.lq isn't using the same cookies...?)

btw, along with "recent tags", could u add an "all tags" listing by alpha and/or popularity/activity?

I think I would prefer the Bookmark@LQ link either on a new line or in the thread tools.

The previous-top-next was really simple, but now it is a little confusing.

aneroid, the two sites do not have a unified login.
