Given how frequently log files are useful in diagnosing issues, it would be nice if LQ could be tweaked to handle them better.
1. "journalctl -b" is a useful diagnostic but can exceed 256KB - would be nice to thus allow txt/log files to be increased to at least 512KB to avoid new users needing to manually split files.
2. Apparently some browsers treat *.log files awkwardly - since vBulletin has the option to force Content-Type (appears to be in the same config page as max filesize), setting it to text/plain for log file attachments would help.
3. Maybe adding ".old" and ".1" as accepted extensions (and likewise forcing to text/plain) would be helpful too.
Size constraints might matter, but it would be nice if more files where recognized as plain text, as mentioned. And would open in a new tab instead of asking me to open them elsewhere.
While we're discussing attachments - some image files are being resized. That's OK if they take up too much storage otherwise, but the forum software resizes them by one pixel! I.e., a 1024x768 image might get resized to 1023x767. That looks horrible!
Pastebin is ideal for files whose archiving is useless, so are better off not being attached to bloat LQ. A problem happens often with nubies' installations lacking a working pastebinning app who can't manage to install one or get the target file to a pastebin manually, but somehow are able to attach.
