Automatic thread subscription?

Just a thought here, not a complaint I notice that whenever I reply to a thread, I am automatically subscribed and get an email whenever there is a new reply. This can amount to a lot of emails, I have found how to delete subscribed threads,en masse, which is not difficult and that's what I do now. The approach used on the ubuntu forum is to give you the option of subscribing to a thread if you choose to do so, but by default you are not subscribed automatically. I find this to be more convenient (for me) as I can subscribe only to the threads I am interested in.
I think you are doing a great job here at LQ, and I can certainly live with things as they are now.
Just a thought.

I turned off thread notification emails. You can do that under

My Profile-->Edit Options-->Messaging and Notification-->Default Thread Subscription Mode.
