Anti Spam Thing

This sucks:
Quote:

Sorry, in order to post a URL you must have at least 5 posts. This measure was put into place to prevent spamming. Please remove the URL and try again. Posting extra threads to get around this rule will result in all threads being removed.
I wanted to post a URL in this tread (and in this) ww.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=275160 and this Forum won't let me. There was writen some thing like, you don't have 5 posts so you can not post URLs, in the Debian forum I was able to do so (click link above for nearly link to the post)!?

And the best of all it was the URL from the tread in the Debian part of this Forum I wanted to Post.

Can the Admin of this Forum please remove this restriction for URLs of this Domain, or are there spamers, that use this Domain for hosting there adds?

Thanks, Dominik Riva

Yes. Or more accurately, without the 5 post minimum for posting URL's, spammers would almost certainly be filling up the LQ forums with ads for discount prescription drugs, free iPods, X-rated websites, etc, etc.

Legitimate LQ users who have fewer than 5 posts can still post a web address, it just won't be a clickable URL. -- J.W.

Look at tis tread , there I was able to post a link with out having 5 posts!?

I understand the need for it, but it don't work correct!

Is it possible to bypass this anti spam thing for links to other threads to this Forum?

Thanks, Dominik Riva

I'm confused by your question -- having the 5 post minimum works for the benefit of the entire LQ membership, by preventing spammers from flooding the site with ads. This is both useful and good, and helps to filter out a lot of junk. I don't really understand your interest in "bypassing" this rule, particularly since you now have over 5 posts. -- J.W.

Now it is no longer a matter for me, but it was frustrating, as i wanted to post a link to an other Tread in this Forum and was not able to do so.

My interest in "bypassing" the anti spam thing, were just for LQ internal links (to URL of this Domain), not for links in general.

I never saw a thing like this, but I think it can be realy useful, if it works correct (as stated in my above post it did not in the Dabian Forum).

Thanks, Dominik Riva

I think J.W. what he means is that links within LQ should be exempt from the no-URLs rule.

Thanks, Harishankar this is exactly, what I wanted to communicate.

Greetings, Dominik

It's probably not a bad idea for linuxquestions.org itself to exempt from the rule. Let me look at the code and see if I can accomplish it in way that I like.

Killing machines..?? Haha... that's funny! I've read somewhere that only 8 people since keeping record have died by them.. and that's only because they provoked them by being dumbarses.. ;)
