[New for Main Menu] Screenshots

Jeremy,

How about adding a section where the registered users can post their desktop screenshots?

This being the foremost *nix forum on the Internet, there would be oodles of reasons why to have one, and very few reasons not to have it.

So many people who don't know the details of other operating systems or desktop gui operation and feel can get a glimpse at the options they might have in their own operating system or they might see something they like about a different operating system. Then there are the masses that have just never seen the desktop of many OSes like Solaris or window managers like Enlightenment, xfce, ice, etc.

For those that post the screenshots, entry boxes for the posters should include: os, kernel, gui system type & version (x-windows, etc.) and hardware.

The above might lead to a new forum or forum discussions called "desktp configuration" or "x-windows system installation and configuration", or whatever you think is best. And you maybe the screenshot addition should show on the main page to lq.org at the top.

Just some idea's.

I don't see a link for uploading that anywhere. Unless I'm more blind than previously. Is it in User CP?

Indeed it is - "Edit Desktop Image".
