Thanks Linux !!!

Well, I have finally done it. It was due mostly to the fact that Windows began behaving sporadically. However, under Linux things are quite stable. During this past weekend, Windows began crashing my system like someone was pulling the plug. Although, it may very well be something related to hardware (God knows I've spent enough on repairs over the last year and a half). Nevertheless, Linux has been running rock solid on it from the word go. There are a few sound issues but that is minor compared to what Windows was doing.

What a fantastic operating system. And thanks to everyone who, over the years, have given me some much needed info in order to solve whatever issues I had faced. Thanks also to those in the future who will give me advice or help point me in the right direction. Because of Linux, I will be able to use this junk computer a little bit longer and stave off buying another for who knows how long...but it is longer than Windows would have allowed.

Take care everyone. Pat yourselves on the back.

Be sure to look into the sound issues. There is lots of information in Ubuntu forums as the problem is commonplace. If you ask for help, be sure to provide hardware specs or else just search the forums and someone has likely had the same problem and you can get ideas for troubleshooting there.

It is also good to report positive results as you have done here. It encourages everyone. Thanks! Give yourself a pat on the back for looking outside of the box and trying Linux. We wish more people would.
