Red hat 9.0 not booting up
Hi,
I have Red Hat 9.0 on my notebook (SONY VAIO, AMD Athlon). I partitioned my Hard disk and installed XP and Linux. Linux worked fine for a while and suddenly one day it did not reboot. The screen flickers and the GUI does not appear for logging in. I force my notebook to shutdown at that point. I would like to reinstall RH 9.0 if rectification is not there. Please let me knowwhat should I do. Naga |
Do the Num Lock and Caps Lock lights on the keyboard flicker ?
If so, then your Kernel Panic. Did you install or upgrade anything recently ? You may want to try to boot your Linux in runlevel 1 and take a look at the error logs for more information. If you want an honest option, it may be easier to simply re-install. If you have anything important on your root partition, moved them to your /home. |
Mathieu,
Thank you Mathieu. I haven't checked that. But i will today. Anyhow I tried to re-install RH 9.0 but could not do so. When I insert the bootable CD it starts up quite nicely but when asked to install from the CD-ROM it says there is no CD-ROM in the CD-ROm Drive. So I was wondering what can I do at this time. Naga |
