Mozilla Firebird exits without errors

Hey all, I just recently had a weird little problem with Mozilla Firebird 0.7. I've been using it happily for some time, and yesterday it decided not to run anymore. Running from terminal produced no output, and simply returned me to the prompt. The weird thing was, other users were able to run it with no problems.

I don't know precisely what the source of the problem was, but I found that deleting my entire ~/.phoenix folder fixed it (apparently they changed the name of the browser but haven't changed the name of its config directory). Make a backup of ~/.phoenix/default/somerandomname/bookmarks.html, delete the whole folder, and run Firebird again; it worked for me, at least. You might want to backup other stuff like prefs.js or whatever stores preferences, but those are easy enough to do over.

I hope this helps someone!

10 to 1 there was a lock file in your username's default directory, next time, to see if this is true, cd to your home directory and do "find -name lock", if it's there, and firebird is not running, then delete it. it gets left there when there's an "abnormal termination" of firebird, same thing for mozilla and netscape.

here's what it looks like as I write this from firebird:
./.phoenix/default/2r41byyf.slt/lock

That is pretty likely the case. It'd be nice if Firebird printed at least some kind of error to that effect. I'm sure they're still working out the bugs

You're right, a message would have been nice, drove me crazy the first time it happened, can't remember now where I found out about the lock file...mighta just stumbled onto it looking for clues in the .phoenix dir.
