I got Launchcast!!!!!!!

I tried to install CrossOver a few weeks ago but I kept running into problems with IE6. I gave up.

I've been working on getting K3b installed and today I realized that all I had to do was delete the word none in /etc/mtab and /etc/fstab by the cdrom line. Then my coworker suggested that I try CrossOver again while I was complaining about not being able to listen to my Launchcast station. IT WORKED!!! Now I have an IE icon on my desktop and Launchcast works beautifully!!!!!

I've been able to access out database through DBVisualizer and remoting to our W2k servers but, as lame as this may sound, Launchcast was the only thing that had me going back to Windows. Hooray for me!!!!

Oh I'm so jealous! Launchcast is my last reason to run windows, cause I can't get it working on IE6 and wine. I miss it and might have to install windows again on a new harddrive so I can listen to it... but maybe I'll have to breakdown and get Crossover so I can stay win free.

I grabbed the RPM for Crossover and found that the installer is surprisingly easy to use. It installs like a wizard. I had a difficult time w/Wine, even after reading the documentation and Googling specific probs. That's when a coworker suggested Crossover.

I haven't tried it w/RedHat and I couldn't get it to work the first time I tried it on SuSE (only yesterday afternoon) but I say go for it. Launchcast was the only thing holding me back too!

Good luck,
Tammy

Can you tell me more? I got the Crossover plugin, but it doesn't work on mozilla 1.5 because it says it's not supported. I tried it on Opera, but it didn't work there either. Which browser are you using?

thanks!

I'm using Konqueror. I'm still a n00b pretty much so I don't know how much I can help you out other than that. But try Konqueror and let me know if you have any more questions. I was actually shocked that I got it to work.

P.S. hope I spelled that correctly ;)

I was reading over my first post about this and realized how ludicrous is sounds that Crossover started working once I fixed my fstab and mtab files but I swear I hadn't changed anything else in my system in weeks. Was it a fluke or does this sound feasible?

Launchcast doesn't work for me with Crossover and Konq...did you have to do anything special to set it up?

I haven't looked at this in a long time, but to get help, you'll need to post some information about what's wrong with it. There's a lot of reasons it might not work, but without an error message or a description of your steps to start from, it's hard to guess what's wrong.

So, I'll just mention a few things that may be relevant, for you and others. I never got it working on RedHat. Note that the original author was using mandrake, who knows that may be part of the reason it worked. One thing I do know that you'll need to do is tell konqueror to identify itself as IE5 or IE6 to launchcast. I forget where this setting is, but it's something like "user agent string". You'll need to get a user agent string for windows IE5 or IE6 and copy and paste it in there. If you're getting an error about the browser not being supported, then this isn't done correctly. Then launchcast will actually pass you the activeX control to run the player. You also need to have windows media player installed on your crossover, that's the player called by the activeX control.
