I networked my linux box to my Windows box using Cups. I knew it was a Samba server and i already have an account on the windows box. I first used Red Hat Linux 7.0, which was an ok distro. Then i moved on to Red Hat Linux 9.0 and it was an improved experience from 7.0. I then first heard about Mandrake 10. I knew one of the versions of Mandrake had problems with a particular CD ROM, which leads it to be killed by firmware or something. So i took a chance with Mandrake 10 and i'm very happy with it. Last night i got the Xmms player to work, which is good. i would like to hear your experiences of linux and your success stories or any probs you had with the distro.

I had some problems too with xmms, glad you got it to work. I ditched it and tried Freeamp (sorry, can't remember where I found it), and I'm very happy with it.
