I Did It!

Ok.. I just got myself up and running with Mandrake 9.1 and I'm loving it.

I have setup a mandrake MNF (firewall) in the past for the company I work for....and messed around with Mandrake 9.0...but this 9.1 just seems to work a hell of a lot BETTER!

#1 I have sound now!
#2 The overall "SPEED" seems better.

I"m off to play with my new 'TOY" for a while.... I'll be in touch to "TWEAK" this system into the beast it wants to be!

Thanks,

Brian Z

But.. I'm still trying to figure out why my mandrake 9.1 wont allow me to shutdown..

the only option I have is LOG OFF!

i have an old version of rh and on gnome it lets me shut down but on kde i have to log out, and at the login box i have to choose system and shut down.

I got it@!

I mentioned it in another post...my problem was that I used the "HIGHER" security option when installing.

This only allows ROOT to log off....not users.

who would have guessed

In your console or RUN command, just type in 'poweroff' and the computer shuts down. I think you can link this command to an icon or something. :)

If you use the KDE session manager, instead of the MDK session manager, I believe you will be able to shut down, or reboot from KDE. In a work environment were several people have physical access to an unattended server for instance, you would not want to to it this way.
