Thumbs up Debian 24 MB Mini ISO

Used Parted Magic to set up an EXT4 partition for my Debian mini iso. Last year I couldn't do anything with the mini iso except install it and boot into it. I couldn't get on the internet or anything. I am writing this from that iso with a lightweight XFCE desktop using the lightweight Dillo browser. I will now use this minimal system for practice installing and compiling from source! It always feels good to be able to look back and view our own progress ... a lot of that progress was with the help of the people here on linuxquestions.org.

Kewl Beans. Glad things are going well for you. I use Dillo a lot also for help files in html form. I also have liked the fact that LQ does not have a hissy fit when accessing it in Links2 or Dillo also.

I'm thinking of starting a "Life From The Command Line" thread or blog. I boot super fast into the command line and use
Code:
 $ startx
to go into the xfce desktop when I want. I just found a thread explaining how to play music in the background while on the command line. That's COOL BEANS 2.

So Small I love it

Good day Author,

This is such an old thread, I hope I will get some reply.

I have been playing around with small Linux distro's since I do not require a GUI, I would love a small Debian footprint but could not achieve what you have managed to do. could you kindly expand on how you achieve a working system with Mini Iso.

I'm looking for a Debian specific small footprint to place as a headless server for Squid proxy, and no I do not require Ubuntu server or anything like that. The smallest I could manage a Debian distro was 200Mb odd. I need something even smaller and there are many things included that is not required.

My success thus far was with TTY-Linux running Squid Server on a Pentium4 120Mb ram. disk usage was 27Mb and ram usage after boot 7.5Mb.
