Welcome

Just need to get my first post out of the way so I can post URLs. Silly arbitrary rules.

This is not what anyone would call a good thing. You decided that someone's "hello" thread was a good place for this did you?

Pro-Tip because no one seems to get this: clickable links are nice but not mandatory. Watch me do a non-clickable link:
h ttp://www.example.com
w w w.example.com

See? Easy.

Shame you made it an utter waste of time.
Should have helped someone instead.

I had already typed out my answer to the following post and I didn't want to lose it. You can understand if I didn't want to create a whole new thread to devote to this stupid rule. This was the best I could think of. It's too bad there's no "Offtopic" forum.

I apologize, 51dunk. I wish I knew of a better way to get that first post out of the way.

And you guys should apologize to 51dunk too. You wasted even more time and bandwidth than me. Ask yourselves, who posted more worthless, hijacking posts on this thread, me or you guys? Well, now we're even, 2 to 2. Thanks for the warm Linux Questions welcome. Sheesh.

How about starting your own introduction thread? Instead of polluting someone else's you would have had your first post and been able to not make it obvious you were doing so just to bypass the [stupid] rule. You could have easily just obscured the URLs on that response and been fine, also.

Welcome to the boards 51dunk... I apologize that your first thread was hijacked by someone trying to bypass the rules here.

The rule is in place for a very good reason, it has, in fact, been recently relaxed.

All you had to do was to create your own, legitimate, thread to say that you were just joining. As with this thread. Also, the 2 of us are mods and should post in this sort of case.

If you have any issues with the site or it's rules, feel free to create a thread in LQ Suggestions and Feedback to discuss your objections.

It is obvious that you did not read the stupid rules, because you couldn't even read the stupid Forum titles and descriptions.(see below) I just love it when everyone else is to blame for our own shortcomings.
