Windows Programmer... Want to try Linux

Own (2) Windows 10 laptops.
So tired of not owning my own rights.
I'd like to array these two using a crossover NIC only.
Thanks for all you all do!

Hello and welcome to LQ.

Can you explain what you wish to do exactly. I can't tell what you wish to do.

Simply put.
I was denied adhoc peer to peer networking in my 2 laptops while running Windows 10.
I now hope to achieve that in UBUNTU...
Not quite acclimated yet as I just completed the setup on one.
Thank you.

Welcome to LQ.

I have never used the feature, but I know that Ubuntu supports ad hoc networks.

Hi ComProg and welcome to LQ!

Perhaps your question is one which should be restated in another forum where they address technical questions.

When you say crossover NIC, are you saying cabled Ethernet? Yes you can create a point to point network just by creating same subnet IP addresses on each end.

Welcome to LQ. I'm not sure whether you mean this[?] Or bridge or ...
For your future posting of questions, here's my advice-blog
(feel free to comment in it, to help me write it!)

Best wishes! Btw, VBox will allow you to easily try Linux ON Win10
