Welcome to LQ.org mate. I also started with Mandriva (called Mandrake back them) and it was very neat. You can't go wrong with Mandriva and this forum to learn the inside outs of Linux

Good luck!

yea i also started on mandrake 8.1 i think it was back then, since then i have tried redhat.. i think it was redhat 9 which was the first distro i downloaded myself

brought mandrake linux of the net, very nice distro had a few problems installing it on my laptop but its all running fine now.

this place seems really good, i know alot of people get annoyed with 'newbies' begging for help and asking stupid questions but i got alot of help yesterday setting up my apache server (which is up and running now yay)

many of you would disagree, but i think i deserved to loose the nick "linux-idiot" - i only really created it on the basis of not planning to stay around. now i know LQ is probably the best linux forum going, i have changed my username

so if any mod's read this would like to remove the user "linux-idiot" that would be great
