Weaning from Windows

Hello Linuxers,

After years of being totally dependent upon Windows, I am gradually and gracefully withdrawing myself as I learn and become more familiar with the Linux environment. The challenge is realising the control and ease of using such an OS as this. I have turned one of my four boxes at home into a Linux machine and am creeping toward number two without upsetting the wife.

I am sure I will submit plenty of questions in this forum about things that may seem elementary to some of you; so please be gentle with me.

I have been a member of this forum since Jan '06 and used it to search through threads for issues closely related to mine and have yet to post anything, but now the flood gates are open. Be prepared.

Matt

Welcome!

Wow, member since '06 and intro post now. That's gotta be some sort of record!

In my opinion, the best way to painlessly migrate other members of the household from Win -> Linux is to make sure they're used to the likes of Firefox, OpenOffice etc. while still using Windows. That way, when you change the OS, the apps remain familiar!
