To enable PMs head to your User CP, edit options and scroll down a couple of pages where there is a check box

Users cannot remove their accounts, as in remove all their posts, because that would fragment any threads that they have participated in and remove the context of other replies, etc. Posts you make are not "yours", they are parts of the public discussions in which you have engaged and are permanent.

To "close" your account, simply stop using it. Disable notifications in your user control panel, perhaps scramble your password, logout and never return. You are not a prisoner and in no way are you compelled to participate.

LQ does not collect any personal information other than your signup email and a few optional details which you may remove yourself if you have submitted them, so there is no future exposure for yourself once you leave.

Hope this helps.

No, this doesn't help, of course. This SUCKS!

I don't want to remove my posts etc. I just don't want to continue being a member of this forum furthermore, that's all.

On every platform/forum etc. where I once registered I was able to remove/quit/end my account (or saying to end my membership) without any of the posts I made would be affected or anything would be fragmented.

So, if this means "RSH" is now a member of this forum at least during the life time of Jeremy or during the "life time" of this forum, this means I'm a virtual prisoner of Jeremy and LQ!

Really, do I need to contact a lawyer to make me one not being a member of this forum any longer?

Prisoner? Whooaaa, slow down!

Lawyer?
I would love to hear how that turns out.
On what legal basis would you demand your account be removed?

FWIW; it's pretty normal for internet forums that account removal is not possible.

Here's what I'd do:
- go through all your posts & your profile and remove all personal information
- change your email to something random non-existing
- change your password to something that you definitely won't remember
Done!
No matter how much temptation, you cannot login anymore!

Ok,

since I'm not a native english speaker I probably found the right term now.

I want to UNREGISTER from the forum!

To unregister is a default function on every platform/forum etc. where I once was registered.

E.g. my eMail adress at gmx.de.

So, there's no chance/option to UNREGISTER from the forum?

(I changed again the title of the thread)

"On every platform/forum etc. where I once registered I was able to remove/quit/end my account (or saying to end my membership)"

that is a GIANT crock of SHATOLA. most forums you have to request to have you account disabed or removed. it's a rare forum where you can do it yourself.

I have started to remove content of my posts done, so probably I will be banned, if I'm not being allowed to unregister!

^ now that's funny; you write "This fuc*ing forum sucks" multiple times, Jeremy hasn't even seen the first post in this thread, this sub-forum is for "member intro's", and then you include a smiley?

AND say you've deleted the content of some of your previous posts (since after a certain period of time, you can't edit your posts)?

This is just comical, when you could have just never logged in ever again to begin with/or contacted Jeremy directly instead. Okaaaay... see ya.

Yes, I noticed some posts couldn't be edited. But lots of those that could be edited I have removed already.

E.g. Thread of LazY Puppy Art Studio 64 couldn't be edited anymore. So I removed the content from archive.org instead. It can't be downloaded anymore (at least as soon as they applied the task)

Continuing until being allowed to unregister or being banned.

This fucking forum sucks!

If having your username permanently associated with a site means being a prisoner then I'm done for. Woe is me, a prisoner of all the most popular fast-food joints in Cornwall! I haven't even visited some of them! Hang on, when's feeding time?

This *** forum sucks!

Grow up.

You signed up for free, voluntarily. The LQ Rules have been VERY CLEAR since day one that you cannot delete your account once you've got posts associated with it. Now you want to whine and moan because of this thread:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...rg-4175660130/

Want to be gone? Then **GO** You don't need Jeremy to 'ban' you, and deleting your posts is nothing but childish. Change your email address to something else...loads of disposable accounts you can use for a single purpose. Type in a huge string of random letters/numbers...copy/paste them as your new password. Log out.

You are now 'gone'...you won't be able to log in, reset your password, etc. Hopefully this will ease the INCREDIBLE BURDEN of being here, and give you the 'freedom' you want.
