i am totally a newbie and guess what, i have absolutely ,positively no time on my hands to change my newbie status...heeeelp, how do i start i want to learn all about this stuff

Have a look at the Links page for some good introductory information. Try a bunch of different things and pop into LQ for some help. If you want to try it you have to start somewhere and I'm confident that LQ is a great place to start.
