The Begining Of a Beautiful Friendship : D
Hey guys, after reading thorugh the terms and the main page I can tell this is going to be the perfect place to start to get acquainted with Linux.
I'm very driven and eager to learn . . Linux has always interested me but since leaving home some 7 years ago have found very little time outside work to take this any further. After re-butchering my Rig a few months ago, I had a dig through the back room and have put together a neat lil system to install my linux O.S on . . . I named Him scraps! Everything I know has spawned from problems I have come across and fixed....with a 64x SLI System that has been alot! . . But all Windows so far . . In linux I know not even a single command line! But I find it exteamly intersting . . Now that im free to have a good root through it, cant wait to start. One thing from the ofset, I have chosen Debian to begin but would greatly appreciate any sugestions on preferences. -Also will be having a look fo some tips on getting installed and started . . Lituraly the very first step in Lnux world for me, Be gentle! : D (Sorry wrote loads! use to typing notes up at work!) Eeek AKA | Stuart ^ ^ |
Welcome to LinuxQuestions.org.
Debian sounds like an excellent choice. Hope scraps enjoys it! |
Thanks Man, I will say i had a lil trouble with Downloading through Jigdo earlier, however probably just fried tonight! I'll have a look through the site for tips tomorrow.
(Not trying to sneak a question in on intro section : ) with this . . . totally understood the concept of the split DL, compiles through the HTTP ..but didnt see the batch file for Jingdo when I'd extracted it, grunted and came here lol) - Once Ive made the ISO im sweet, got both monitors and Keyboards on this desk (One is Windows For Reference), Tv in front and kettle in kitchen behind : D I'll be set (for sleepless nights lol) First some command lines then the world! |
Do what I've done (and still do.) Make a short list of things to study, do that and then make another list. In everything that you do, keep a notebook with all the little things that you find out. Use that notebook for reference.
