Thanks | CUPS test page ?

Well, I've been learning a lot about Linux only browsing and searching this forum during about six or nine months. Thanks, thank you very much ! I can now use my computer for any type of tasks I used to do with a illegal copy of Windows and more, and with more fun and confortness (this word exists?).

Okay. So i got a little problem with the CUPS test page : I can print with "lpr file.ps" but I can't print the test page from Mozilla, he tells me that I can't access on this server. Do you have any idea about this?

Of course English isn't my native language as you can see, so be indulgent please.

This forum is not a good place to ask questions - it's much better to ask them on other forums. Im not sure if youd like this thread moved. If you' like it - write.

I've already looked for cups - slackware - mozilla - test page - browser in various combinations... and I didn't found anything convencing.

I put this post here because of the personnal introduction part, but you're right this isn't really a good place for this question. I'm a little confused...
Okay so Mara you could move it to a better place? (or what do I have to do ? how does it work ?)
Thanks for answering me so fast

Hmm...Not it doesn't look like a question now. When moved, it may be not easy to read.

I guess the best solution will be when you post the question as a new thread (I suggest Linux - Software forum).

(I don't know if this thread is still alive, but here goes).

Start the CUPS service (as root) with the command : "service cups start".

You can double check if it's running by doing : "netstat -nlt |grep 631".

You should see something like this:

tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:631 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

If so, open up your favorite browser on your Linux machine, and enter the URL : "http://127.0.0.1:631". This will bring you the CUPS web based management tool.

Now you can try to print something.
