Sayhing Hi!

Howdy!

Obvious, new to Linux ... why now? After contemplating to make the switch from PC to OSX I got to understand that, even though both systems have their goods, bads and the uglies, they're both just a computer doing the same thing yet in a different way.

So before spending the money on a Mac that I won't be able to upgrade two to four years down the road, or before spending the money on Windows 9 or 10 because 8 begins to lose support, I thought to maybe tap into Linux and see what the community has to offer.

I love the concept first off all. I do very basic computing really and don't mind learning a little bit of code. So, the idea is to install a distribution, run it along side Windows and see how it goes.

I already ran into some installation problems with Elementary Luna haha, but I'm not complaining because The problem sits between the keyboard and chair ... so off I go!

Welcome to LQ! Mr AmsterDan

I would say you keep Windows even after installing Linux. Many people and etc make things for Windows only, and for that sometime you can't have a way in Linux.

Thanks for the tip! I have done some research and yes, that is what many people seem to do for particularly that reason, among others such as it being nice to switch back and forth as a long lime Windows user. Performing an otherwise simple task promptly may get tricky in which case it is nice to have a familiar platform on the side. That is one of my biggest reasons for the time being personally.

Thanks again!
