re-learning unix admin from the ground up

back when ethernet cables were big, yellow and had physical taps, unix was pretty much all i used. somewhere along the way i got sucked into the microsoft and apple whirlpool; an unfortunate detour, technically speaking.

i decided the best way to jump back in was set up a server on my home network and make it work. installed ubuntu server distro onto an old compaq nc6400 laptop and now grinding through re-learning the cli, bash, etc.

seems an excellent way of wasting hundreds of otherwise economically and socially product hours!
