Peace be with you--from an 11-year Posix user who prefers usenet

Peace be with you,

I am a former DOS/Windows-3.x/9x/me user (and still hobbyist) that has used (and programmed on) BSD and Linux since 1997: I like Slackware/Slamd64 and NetBSD, and I am interested in (Open) Solaris, another traditional Posix, but because of how it must be downloaded, it is more hassle to install than any windows!

I like usenet & IRC but not most web forums & IM, but I have questions many usenet & IRC users might consider too easy: mostly about X/KDE, which I avoid dealing with except using it. I could answer some questions about stuff I can deal with and enjoy: easy to intermediate console/shell/terminal, though I would prefer to answer on IRC or usenet. If there was a count of how many questions one asks and answers that could include ones on other protocols, I might have more motivation to answer them also on a web forum.

My homepage has notes on Posix OSes I use, including what files one might want to save from their home directory, but part of my page is outdated and it needs to be better written....
