Thumbs up One more FNG..

Longtime lurker so I figured I'd get the FNG stuff out of the way.

Systems/Network Admin for far too many years I care to remember but there is always a time where I know I don't know everything and this place is one of the first stops in trying to find a solution so keep up the good work.

Working in a primarily a RHEL shop but have to support about 5% of some assorted MS stuff because the apps folks just can't seem to wrap their pea brains around how to do things easier, instead they'd just rather throw money at the solution and hand it over to me to support.. Guess I shouldn't complain as it gives me some sense of job security in these times.

No questions right now so just have fun and keep up the good work. I'll be over there in my corner.

Welcome nhdave, to LQ.

I hear you when you say, can't get their brains around how to do things easier and stick with MS. It is like watching someone writhe in pain but yet refuse to do anything about it. I have suggested to some family members that they should look at trying Linux. The response I usually get is that Windows was hard enough and they don't want to have to learn anything new. What they don't realize is that it doesn't have to be difficult. I guess that makes for an interesting marketing strategy for Windows: one you learn it, you wont want to switch because you don't want to go through that again.

I myself work at a University which is very Linux oriented but my department is Windows centric. It is rather frustrating at times. You really start to miss things like log files and a decent shell prompt and things like file type associations start to just drive you insane.
