Hi LQ folks,
Old guy here. Most folks as old as I am need to get their grandkids to log them in to FacePalm. I have been at it a while.
Worked at GM, lucky enough to get training on computer systems back in the day. Started out maintaining and repairing IBM-XTs and DEC Mini Computers
Anybody remember MS-DOS 2.0? EDLIN? DEC-RSX11M? OS-8? PDP-8 computers that can trip a 20 amp breaker trying to power up?
Retired now, but still work at the hey-buddy computer repair shop for friends.
I can find my way around Microsoft with only an occasional assist from Google
.
I don't get much use from my Novell training these days
.
I am pretty new to Linux. Having a lot of experience with hardware helps, but I pretty much abandoned the command line when Windows 3.0 came along.
I have a new fast PC with an 8 core CPU, and now trying to run Ubuntu in Hyper-V. I will prolly be around here asking questions for a while.
