Hi all,

I have been using this forum for a tech support knowledge base resource for quite some time, and I figured it is about time to join up. I recently took the plunge and wiped out my last bastion of microsoft in my house, my laptop. (I finally got fed up with things working for a while and then not working anymore, for no apperant reason) Now it is running Debian, and all my other machines are running a *nix variation of some kind. I am reading everything about unix and its flavors/variants I can, but I still have huge gaps in my knowledge, so I *will* be posting very basic, perhaps even stupid, questions from time to time. Please be patient :D

Okay, that being said, I would like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past, even if you don't know it. Please keep up the kind help you all provide, and let me know if I can help in any way. (Yes Yes, an MCSE isn't looked at as a very big accomplishment here, but I did mine all on my own, and I am one of the few who know what they are doing, at least in my opinion) But, as I am learning more and more nix, I am finding out more and more with windows and nix interaction. So, I *might* be able to provide a little bit of input.

Okay, long winded introduction, but, I just wanted to let you all know "you rock"

Nuff Said

Thanks for the great forum

Mark

Cool

Maybe you can help answer some of the windows questions we get all the time.

LOL! :D

an MCSE wiping out windows and turning completely to linux, that is saying a lot. it does seem that it is the smartest ones who adopt the best technologies first. :)

Look at it this way.

You learned enough to know it's crap

It does seem a little weird I am sure, and I wouldn't want Uncle Bill to go sniffing around my boxes, but MS makes me money (my clients need to be held by the hand through everything) and I have found it works like this: If you want completely useless answers, ask MS support, if you want to fix the problem, get open source.

;)
