Bankvault,

you are very welcome here!

Linux is great, be it on old or new hardware. I'm sure you will enjoy it as you will enjoy being a member of these forums. Do not hesitate asking questions about Linux, more you know about it more fun it is.

Your friends are the crazy ones. You made a decision you will not regret. Enjoy your new world.

Simply inspiring.

Personally, my mentor is 72 years old. This is certainly remarkable.

Welcome! Don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome to Linux! I also like Linux Mint, and I think it's wonderful that you're picking up a new hobby at this point in your life. Congratulations, and best wishes!

Hello

Rather than crazy, most Linux users would consider you brave for trying it and not caring so much if your friends think otherwise. Even if you should decide you don't like it, at least you've tested the waters and know more about Linux than them.

Good luck with your Linux Mint adventure.

Hi
just remember to "have fun"

now depending on just what the "old hardware" is
you might not have any problems
or
you might ( i have some problems with a 12 year old computer)

so keep it fun

for instance i have a old "back up" machine .A DELL computer from 2001 with a even slightly older 3d card.
A nvidia gforce2 ( came out in 2000 )

i run ScientificLinux 6.3 on it
it will still support this ancient hardware

I sounds like you want to learn , so we are here to help

Hello!
OK! A bit about myself.
Currently work for a utility company and maintain networking devices (switches, routers, firewalls) to full production servers (windows OSs and Linux). Quite proficient in networking but enjoy playing with linux. During free time try to work on scripts for fun.
LQ has been a life saver many times when im in a rut. I've never felt a need to create a account since every need has always been addressed by google searching. Now though, something is driving me crazy, but that on another post. Hopefully i'm of help somewhere.

Looking forward to this!
