New to linux..totally new

I've been sitting with windows for years wondering what Linux is all about, I needed some thing to push me over the edge. Star citizen has. great game that will have Linux support. So I would like to build a system that runs Linux and will run this game. I have years working with Pc's built several myself but my software training stopped with hexidecial and fortran. Thats has been my hang up. I'm an electronic tech in the oil fields of Montana.

download ubuntu and create a dual boot disk. Easy and fun. Also, if you don't have cygwin for windows get it. It's a complete unix system that runs on your windows machine. Comes with editors, compilers, whatever you want to try.
