New, old and curious

Hi all out there.
This post to introduce myself, a 51 year old (or young, depends of the side you're looking at) crazy guy who would like to know more about that "so good" Linux, some people are speaking of.
No kidding, since one year I installed (tried to) several times a Linux distribution, but it never worked as I liked.
Tried Debian, Suse, Gentoo (the best succes I had) and different live-ditributions (Knoppix, ...)
I have 2 children (?? 32 and 26 year old) too "Windows"  minded (sorry in their place).
I HAVE TO WIN.:Pengy: And thus hope a little help from this community.:study:
Thanks.

Welcome to LQ!

Have you tried more newbie-friendly distributions like Mandriva, SuSE or Fedora? You tried with ones considered 'hard' :)

Thanks

Thanks Mara,

I'll surely try other distris, but I have to say that the best result I had was with Gentoo (compiled from scratch for my machine).
I was greatly disappointed by the SuSe 10.0 distri.
It recognized the video-card (FX5200) without problems, but NEVER could have working the 3D. I tried ALL the stuff mentionned by Nvidia, but .... nope.

Thanks again.
The first thing I'll try again, is re-install Gentoio with my new video-card.
