New member - not completely new to Linux
Hi!
I'll try to be brief and to the point:
I recently migrated to Linux after several system crashes in MS windows.
Professionally, I hold a job in secondary education. I have a degree in marine biology and computers have been a hobby off and on since my study years.
At home I run Debian Sarge on my main PC in a tiny home network. I also use a Linux firewall. I have installed a Citrix client whereby I can log in to the server at work from my home PC.
I have downloaded kernel source and compiled 2.6.14.3 in order to get my Pinnacle PCTV stereo capture card to work with Mythtv, which I also downloaded and compiled from source. Sound is still an issue, as I am only getting one channel (i.e. not stereo, sound output to one speaker only).
My current first priority is getting my printer (HP PSC 2110) to function. This is why I signed up here.
I have done a tiny bit of programming (C) and wish to develop my programming skills and become an active part of the open source community. Any tips on where to start would be very welcome!
