New member, and some system specs for future reference

Hello

I'm an untutored, laptop Linux user; I (try to) run SuSe 9.3 and
will explain in other fora some of my current questions/problems which I seek advice in solving. I don't know how to program and have only basic user's knowledge of my system. I understand the directory system and most basic linux command-line commands, but not all. My system has a GUI interface, of course; but there are still a number of problems using it to fix my current difficulties.

I'm especially interested in anyone's help who has either the same kind of laptop as mine or the same Linux distribution, or, ideally, both of them!

This is to introduce details about the computer to which my
future posts refer.

the system is

make/model a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop

And THANKS ! in advance.

Welcome to LQ! That's a lot of info. When you get the answers to your questions and get SuSE working nicely on that laptop, you might like to eventually add that information (perhaps in more concise form) to the Laptop/Dell section of the HCL here at LQ.org
Hope you have a great time learning and using GNU/Linux!
