I'm probably going to lurk more than post as I am pretty shy; also, it's been my experience (in other forums) that if I search the threads or the FAQ, what ever I need to know has been answered already.

I haven't dealt with Linux in over ten years, and when I did, I didn't know much then so I don't think I will be a very valuable contributor, but you have my word I won't cause trouble and you'll barely know I'm here.

Aside from all that, I grew up in Maine, but live in Seattle, I'm a 51 year old crazy cat lady who likes music (many genres), working on cars, running machinery and puzzles... Nice to meet you all...

A long time ago, I started here looking for answers. Eventually, I joined, because I had a question for which I could not find an answer here or elsewhere, so I needed to ask a Linux Question.

It was five years or more before I worked up the nerve to answer a question.

What kinds of music do you like? I'm specifically into metal, classical, folk, ambient and some others. There are a few of us here who are very much into music. As for puzzles, I've never been that into them myself, but you might find this place interesting if you don't already know it:

The best way to learn Linux is by actually using it - which you seem to be doing already based on your user agent icon. Don't be afraid to make mistakes - nobody was born "just knowing" anything - not just Linux. Based on your user agent icon once again, you seem to be using Ubuntu or one of it's spin-off's, so that's a good choice for a beginner. That will let you get your feet wet without completely overwhelming you. And there's a lot of guides, how-to's and alike for Ubuntu that you can look up to help you, if you get stuck. But as said above, don't be afraid to ask a question - how else are you going to know the answer if you didn't ask? ;)

As time goes on you may notice that you know something about Linux that somebody else does not. So, there are times that you can be of a help.

As for me, both me and my wife enjoy puzzles. Almost every day one or both of us are working on them and after they are finished sometimes we glue them, put them into a frame, and hang them on the wall.

My wife and I like classical music, traditional Gospel music, banjo, dulcimer, typical Ozark style, and traditional Chinese music. So, whatever your musical tastes are there are folks here that enjoy what you enjoy. I am sure that you will find friends here as you learn more of the Linux method of computing.
