just keep in mind that from time to time you might need to use Windows software
and not everything will run in wine

Correct, I have a Virtual Machine with Windows 7 installed here in Linux. Just for Microsoft Office 2013 (I have an Office 365 account) and Newsleecher. Other Windows programs and a few games that I use do run nicely through Wine :)

I got fed up with Windows too. October 2016 was my seminal moment. It was just after the UK's NHS Ransomware attack. I'd been having problems anyway as I was still on XP.

I'd installed Slackware 8 back in 2001 and liked it with KDE.

October 2016 was the big switchover for me. It takes quite a while to change the mindset away from Windows but you'll never be bored with the challenges.

Good luck and stick at it. Once you get beyond the Blowing-it-all-to-Kingdom-Come-Regularly and you figure out what caused your Hiroshima events, you'll have a ball and realise that Linux at home is the Ultimate IT Playground.

Enjoy yourself!
