my introduction
 

hello!
I have been a Linux user for about 9 years - I was looking for an alternative to windows and found myself in Linuxland, and loving it. I have tried many distributions -- settled on Novell/SuSE 10.1 as the best for me, (but I really think the DSL folks are really onto something too). I joined LQ cuz I have some Linux issues I am still trying to resolve and the LQ folks seem to be the friendliest (and most tolerant!) around. My bread and butter is running trains - I am a railroad locomotive engineer, but I do some webwork for my local union and others and I am also the go to guy amongst my friends and cohorts for computre problems (windows, natch)...I am somewhat laughingly referred to as "that Linux user dude..." and nobody listens to my evangelizing...
I live in western (but it's a DRY heat) Arizona.
I am looking forward to climbing a little higher up the Linux learning curve here in LQ..
