Hi,
By way of introduction, I've been working for one computer manufacturer or another for more than 30 years as a systems product designer. I am currently a very senior technologist. Systems design, OS internals, lots of networking. Spent time around proprietary OSs, Unix, Windows, and a little Linux

. While I have always kept a hand in personal computing for home use, and as a tool at work, I am embarking on a professional shift back into personal computing after having worked for the last 20 years on big iron. I finally am getting to combine my personal interests in home control and multimedia with a job in a new (for me) division of my (un-named) very large computer company. In this new job I get to work and play on the same stuff

. I will be responsible for technical strategy in the newly emerging (for my company) area of home control. As such, I need to come up to speed on a bunch of technology, and directly experience it as a user/customer viewpoint.
I am interested in Linux MCE, and have a decent media PC (dual core Athlon 4200) hooked up to a Panasonic PTAX200u 720P Projector, and Yamaha sound system via HDMI and SPDIF respectively. I'm in the throws of setting up Linux MCE on my rig. I have X10 throughout the house, controlled by a CM15 interface. I will be asking bunches of questions as I work through this setup.
